There are many things to collect in our world. Stamps, coins, model trains and even figurines are among some of the top collections. However, the trend of collecting world banknotes is gaining notoriety. To explain it simply, it is collecting paper money from everywhere possible in the world.

Second, storage is vital. You will want to make sure that you are storing your collection in acid free, water proof, and relatively humidity free locations. There are many collection books that can be purchased that will hold the note safely. However you will still want to make sure that you provide proper storage of the book.
When you are looking to branch out, check out auctions. There are public local auctions and online auctions that may offer you a wide variety of notes to bid on and purchase. As you become more of a collector, it helps to have a list of missing notes with you when you go. Some collectors do not, and realize after they are home they have two identical common notes.
You should consider carrying insurance on your collection as well. This is particularly important if you find that you have a large collection, or rare notes. Make sure that you have each note appraised for your records, even if you do not choose to carry insurance. This will benefit you, should you choose to sell any of your collection.
As with all collections, the older the banknote is the better. It also needs to be in excellent shape to really be worth collecting. You also want to make sure that you are verifying legitimacy. Counterfeit notes prove to be nothing more than a waste of money, and a source of aggravation.
It has been stated that following the note trends throughout the world help predict the economic changes. Granted, this can be true but to begin that path you would need to review the note history for each of the economic super powers. Following world banknotes, even without the prediction factor can be an interesting hobby on its own. Because the rate of exchange changes so frequently and dramatically it is certainly a hobby that will not become stale.
